Trampoline Safety Tips

Trampoline is one of the most fun play equipment these days. Most school children love it; maybe because of the exhilarating feeling that they get each time they jump on one. On the bright side, trampolining is an exciting and effective physical exercise; however, based on medical reports, child injuries on trampolines are continuously increasing. In fact, two-thirds of trampoline accidents happen on ages ranging from 6 to 14. But like with any other accidents, these can be prevented by simply learning about the basics of trampoline safety.

Safety Precautions When Using Trampoline

According to several trampoline safety reviews, here are some of the tips that you must practice each time you or your kids use the trampoline to avoid any possible injury.

  • Trampoline safety can always be achieved if adults will supervise their children while playing on the equipment.
  • If your children are under the age of 6, you should not allow them to play on a full size trampoline.
  • Do not do somersaults.
  • The equipment should not be used without a trampoline mat and trampoline safety pads. Otherwise, your kids will get cuts or bruises from the trampoline’s hooks, springs or frame. Buy a trampoline mat to protect the users of the trampoline from injury.
  • The ideal location for a trampoline is the place away from structures and other play equipments.
  • Never place a ladder close to the trampoline so that small children won’t reach the equipment without your supervision.
  • Prefer the ones with trampoline safety nets as these prevent you or your kids from possible injuries in case you fall off the trampoline.
  • Always make sure that the equipment is placed on a flat surface.
  • Climb down instead of jumping off whenever you need to get off the trampoline.
  • Make sure you bounce only on a low level and land on the middle of the trampoline consistently.
  • Flips, tricks, or stunts will only cause you painful injuries so never attempt to do one on a trampoline.
  • For added safety, remove all jewelries and other sharp objects out of your pockets.
  • Consider your body’s limitations. Take breaks after bouncing for a long duration of time.
To stay fit, be active or simply to have fun – there is a multitude of reasons to go on trampolining. With these trampoline safety tips, nothing more should stop you from hitting that fun trampoline and staying healthy. So go ahead and gear up for jumping; but remember, it always pays to stay safe.
